How to add shipping and returns information to Shopify product pages

Place the policies shoppers need near the buying decision, without repeating long policy pages across every product.

Shoppers look for shipping and returns information when they are deciding whether the product is safe to buy—not only after they have committed to an order. A policy page is necessary, but it is rarely enough on its own.

Product pages should offer a short, accurate summary and a clear path to the complete policy. The summary removes uncertainty; the policy provides the detail for shoppers with a specific question.

Answer the questions that affect the decision

Most shoppers need a few practical facts: where the order ships from, when it will normally leave the store, what delivery options exist, whether returns are accepted, and how long they have to begin a return. Keep the wording specific to the product when a category has a meaningful exception.

Avoid pasting the complete legal policy into every product description. It makes the page harder to scan and creates many places to update when the policy changes.

Give the short answer, then link the policy

A compact Shipping and returns block can state the normal expectation and link to the full policy. Treat the full policy as the source of truth, then review the product-page summary whenever its terms change. If the two disagree, the shopper will understandably trust neither.

The summary should never promise more than the policy or the fulfillment team can support. If a deadline, fee, or product category has an exception, say so plainly and link to the relevant detail.

Place it after the buying essentials

Product title, price, variants, and add-to-cart controls should remain the primary path. Shipping and returns information usually works well immediately below those controls or in the first group of product details. It is available at the moment of doubt without competing with the decision itself.

Maintain exceptions deliberately

Final-sale goods, personalized products, pre-orders, and region-restricted items may follow different rules. Give those products a clear exception block instead of relying on shoppers to infer it from a general policy. Accurate product-level information prevents support conversations that are difficult to resolve after the order is placed.
